Distinctly Arizona on the 4th

Distinctly Arizona on the 4th

Arizona has style-whether it is the Red Rocks of Sedona, the blooming Saguaro, or the uniquely and distinctly Arizona way of celebrating Independence Day.

If you want to step out a little this 4th of July, checkout 6 fun ways to celebrate:

  1. Prescott Frontier Days-World’s Oldest Rodeo, Prescott If you drive just about 2 hours north of Scottsdale, you can enjoy a grand rodeo parade on July 1st. After the parade, you can watch some amazing rides by bull riders, ropers, barrel races, and bullfighters. There is a repeat performance of the rodeo on July 4th.
The first Prescott Rodeo took place on July 4, 1888, and is still going strong. Do you want to learn more about the history of the rodeo or purchase tickets? >CLICK TO LEARN MORE<

  1. Independence Day Concert and Festival in the Pine, Flagstaff
If you are willing to drive just a little bit longer, you can head up to Flagstaff for an afternoon concert hosted by the Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra. The event is free, kid-friendly, and begins at 3pm.

Just “around the corner” in Fort Tuthill, at Festival in the Pines, more than 150 artists and vendors from around the country will be displaying their artwork while musical performances complete the entertainment. The Festival runs July 4-6.

  1. Oatman Fried Egg Contest, Oatman
Driving about 4 hours northwest will take you to Oatman, AZ, just off Route 66. Oatman celebrates the Arizona heat and the 4th with a “most edible egg” contest. Teams compete to cook the fastest, most edible egg in under 15 minutes. The catch? The sidewalk is your stove top! >CLICK TO LEARN MORE<

  1. The Firecracker Express, Clarksdale
Clarkdale, AZ is about two hours north of Phoenix. July 4th starts with a community pancake breakfast, followed by a children’s parade. You will have the opportunity to ride in a vintage fire engine and sing along to good ole patriotic music performed by a local band. Liberty Wildlife will bring a bald eagle for a visit during your BBQ lunch at the train depot. The Verde Canyon Railroad Firecracker Express will take you on a tour near the Sycamore Canyon Wilderness. >CLICK TO LEARN MORE<

  1. Bisbee Coaster Races, Bisbee
If you want to join in the world-famous Bisbee Coaster Races, you will need to go past Tucson, almost to the border. The Tombstone Canyon tradition is over 100 years old. Children (and their families) decorate “boxcars” for a chance to win trophies and prizes. Some of the boxcars can travel up to 40 mph! >CLICK TO LEARN MORE<

  1. The Annual Pets & People Promenade, Sierra Vista
On your way to Bisbee, you can swing by Sierra Vista with Fido and his feline friend to join a promenade through Veteran's Memorial Park. If you need costume suggestions, Roscoe and I would love to brainstorm with you! >CLICK TO LEARN MORE<
